For the past decade, C&J Farms has been creating the most flavorful all natural seasoning blends around. What started as a small family farm business, the goal being to provide a better blend of seasoning, has turned into an award-winning hometown brand.
Connie and James Gibson (the “C and the “J) began C & J Farms Texas in Corsicana, Texas in 2011. Originally inspired by their daughters-in-law’s herb garden they began down the path towards developing a company centered around the creation of hand-made seasonings, and ultimately one of the purest and most unique Infused Honey’s in the region. Two of their blends, Herbs de Provence & Greek Seasoning quickly grew in popularity. Within months, new blends followed, and they quickly became a prominent vendor at Farmers Markets and Craft Food Shows across the Southwest Texas Region. With the help of family, the business began to grow, and a full website was launched now extending opportunities to reach customers across the State. Soon after the decision to start producing infused raw honey was made, C & J began sourcing local raw, unpasteurized, North Texas honey and would then start adding our very own herbs to them. People loved our honey, so much so that it quickly became about half of the total business.
Expansion follows growth! I was first employed by C & J Farms to assist with their recent expansion, and throughout the years, I have assumed a variety of roles. Gardens, marketing to sales, creating recipes, and learning the honey infusion process, I learned every aspect of our products and of a company that I came to love and believe in. I appreciated that C&J Farms was family owned and operated. They embraced the quality over quantity mindset and just wanted to make the best seasonings and purest infused honeys possible. Working closely with the entire family of C&J Farms, it soon became a part of me, of my own family. We evolved together.
Over the years C & J Farms has been represented in some of the biggest and best culinary markets, tradeshows and competitions across Texas and the U.S. From our first place awards at the Fiery Foods Festival, to hometown cookouts and exquisite wineries, it has been amazing to see this small family owned and operated seasoning and infused honey manufacturer win award after award! It gives us such an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for what we have made and built together. It was this small community charm and closeness that fueled my passion for the products we created and the people we did it with.
In 2020 I (Lene’s Mitchell) was approached with an offer to take over C&J Farms. While sad that our foundations were shifting, I was incredibly honored and humbled to have become such a pillar in this family business that I was now going to become it’s backbone! In our area, C&J Farms was now a necessary product.
We collaborated as a family to cultivate and create products we love and believed in. From hosting C & J Farms annual Festival to becoming a staple at many family dinners, gatherings, and in culinary kitchens. I currently have the amazing, incredible fortune of witnessing and being a part of not only the survival of a small company that I adore, but also its steadfast adherence to being family-owned and operated. Knowing and appreciating every step it took to get here and enjoying the adventure while we continue to expand and create the finest products we can. It is an honor to share our products with families and chefs, wherever they may be!
